Solee Caterina holiday house in Madesimo is a warm and cosy alpine style attic, in a quiet area close to the forest with a wonderful mountain view, only 500m from the town center and the ski area Valchiavenna.

Two Bedrooms, Living room with Kitchen, Bathroom with Shower, WC and Bidet, Fireplace. A Private Parking Area is available in front of our house.
The beds are divided over two matrimonial rooms (Lilla and Salvia) and a small single bed is available on the wooden mezzanine, accessible by a ladder.
All the rooms are equipped with dimmable lightning, which provide an atmospheric touch to the fir beams of the roof. The bathroom has a sink, toilet, bidet, shower, and a washing machine. The little closet in the bathroom contains a hairdryer, vacuum cleaner and other accessories for the cleaning of the house. The apartment has an automatic central heating system.
At the ground floor, there is a Storehouse/Ski room, and an outside green area with a table.

HISTORY
The Solee Caterina is an attic (Solee is a word from the local dialect and means attic).
The house was built in the eighteenth century using local stones and timber.
It is completely renovated now, preserving the original features but with the insertion of a large arch window in the facade.
Caterina Pilatti in De Marchi, (great-grandmother of the owners) lived here during the first part of the 19th century. She and her family have spent every summer here working in the pasture and picking medicinal herbs.

Solee Caterina is in Madesimo, an alpine village situated at an altitude of 1600 m, offering tourist infrastructures, shops and a ski area with modern ski lifts: Ski area Valchiavenna.
It is situated in a valley surrounded by beautiful nature.
Numerous excursions on foot, on ski or snowshoes, will enrich your holidays with discoveries of the alpine landscape.
The territory of Valle Spluga is characterized by alpine lakes and pastures only reachable on foot, and it is littered with typical houses in stone and intercalating wooden structures named “Carden”.
The “Via Spluga” is a historical itinerary dating from the Roman era, and unites the Swiss city of Thusis with Chiavenna, over the Splugen pass.
